Austria vs Germany
Austria – Germany 5 - 1 (2-1,1-0,2-0)
In today's main event, Austria faced Germany. Even if the two teams are not counted to the inner circle of the candidates for the title of the world champion, the duel between those two countries is always something special.<p>
Germany's Christian Masel surprised the Austrian defence in the second minute of the game, giving his team an early lead on power play. The Austrians reacted fast put up pressure. When Germany had one man in the penalty box, Joe Leuer assisted by Jürgen Tschernutter and Marco Zorec could level the game for Austria. The home team now took over the control of the game. In the eight minute Anton Wrann gave his colors the lead assisted by Lukas Grünwald and Oliver Steinwende.. In an intensive game Austria was the better team, but the German defence in front of the excellent Maximilian Dürr in the net didn't allow any further scoring in the opening period.<p>
This changed in the second minute of the central period, when Kevin Veider assisted by Maximilian Essinger brought Austria 3:1 up. No further scoring took place in this period.<p>
In the second minute of the closing period, the over 500 spectators in the Stadthalle Villach saw another goal. Kevin Essmann gave the home team the 4:1 lead assisted by Tschernutter and Zorec. Then Austria took a row of penalties, giving Germany the chance to come back into the game. But the Austrian box in front of goalkeeper Lorenz Hirn held Germany away from scoring. In the closing minutes the home team was able to control the game and bring the two points safely home. In the last minute Germany pulled the goalie during a penalty against Austria. But the luck wasn't with the Germany tonight; Patrick Edlinger could get possession the ball liberated by Zorec and scored the 5:1 for Austria.<p>
Germany will face tomorrow at 6pm the USA, while Austria will matchup with Canada at 8pm.

This past weekend I had the honour of becoming the third President of the ISBHF.
I believe that as a player and coach I have always strived to play ball hockey in a skilled and team way. Now I have a chance to work with all the great leaders of our sport throughout the World who love the game like we all do. I met some great people in Paris. And I would like to thank the representatives of all our member nations who voted me in on behalf of ball hockey players around the World.
This is an honour I will handle with the honesty and hard work that made me a successful player and coach. I want to share the main keys that I will strive to work with my fellow board members to make this game better around the World.
