The situation before this game was clear for both teams. USA will play tomorrow at noon for bronze, Canada at 2 pm for gold.
Josh Merchant surprised the Canadians in the third minute bringing the USA 1 to 0 up on passes from Nick Long and Mike DeFazio. Canada instantly brought more speed into the game. Andrew Shaw, Garret Wilson, Andrew Howes and Shaw again gave the Maple Leafs a 4 to 1 lead after the first period.
The Canadians controlled the last two periods in which both teams did not go to their limits to safe some energy for tomorrow's important games. Canada got three goals more, provided by Randy Cox, Dylan Smith and Andrew Shaw.
