Stilmat and ISBHF Announce Flooring Partnership

The ISBHF is excited to announce that it has agreed a partnership with Stilmat, a multisport flooring producer. Thanks to this partnership, all players at the 2025 World Junior Championships in Hradec Králové and Poprad, as well as the 2026 World Men’s & Women’s Championships in Ostrava, will enjoy the renowned Stilmat sport court flooring at two rinks, with an option to extend the partnership beyond these events.

2025 Women’s Masters Championships to take place in Bratislava, Slovakia

The ISBHF Board of Directors has approved the change of location for the 2025 ISBHF World Women’s Masters Championships. Instead of Pembroke, Bermuda, along with the Men’s Masters Championships, the event will be held in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Board of Directors decided on the change based on the preferences of applied teams to extend the event to a 4-team minimum.

Poprad is nestled beneath Slovakia’s towering High Tatras and offers the perfect blend of medieval charm and alpine adventure. From July 2-6, the city will be filled with the adrenaline of championship ball hockey for the 2025 ISBHF U20 Men’s & Women’s World Championships. Fans can explore the cobbled city streets with authentic Slovak restaurants and cozy cafes between games. Then they can hop on the iconic Tatra Railway for a short ride to the High Tatras mountains, where hiking trails wind through the breathtaking waterfalls and mountain top lakes.

In Ontario, Canada, a group of students has established the Ontario University Ball Hockey Association (OUBHL), which allows them to continue playing the game they love while pursuing education. When ball hockey players move away from their hometown for education, they often leave their local club teams and may not play again until they move home for the summer. However, the OUBHL allows them to play in a competitive environment with new teammates and new competition.

This article stops to think about the life lessons children receive through ball hockey. By asking parents from around the world a few simple questions, we see transnational themes and characteristics that demonstrate the ability of ball hockey to be a foundational aspect of children’s lives.

As ball hockey spreads and becomes recognized as an independent game that also develops the fundamental aspects of ice hockey, some larger organizations, such as the Florida Panthers, Barstool’s Spittin’ Chiclets, and the Washington Capitals, have all shown interest in the sport. This is crucial to ball hockey because these organizations have a significant outreach and media coverage, enabling the growth of the sport and bringing awareness to the games’ accessibility, speed, strategy and incredibly talented players. It is important to highlight these events to the ball hockey community and encourage new players to join, fostering talent and building a sturdy foundation for the future of the sport. These events also highlight areas for new sponsorships and partnerships, bringing in new players and fans while providing money that can be reinvested into the game. Documenting and spreading awareness of larger organizations’ involvement in the sport is an integral part of starting that growth; therefore, this article highlights these three organizations and how they have brought awareness to our game.
